A team led by the Public Relations Officer of the above named institution (Eastern Region Office) Mr. Saidu Mohamed Bah have on Tuesday 7th February ,2023 engaged Staff and Management of Kenema District Council on a sensitization drive.
The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) is a body established by an Act of Parliament (Act No. 5 2001) to administer a Social Security Scheme that provides financial security to all employees in Sierra Leone in the form of Old Age retirement,Invalidity and Survivors’ Benefits based on Social Insurance principles.
The purpose of the visit according to Mr. Saidu Mohamed Bah is to sensitize staff members in order to deepen their knowledge on the scheme and the benefits staff members stand to gain. He furthered that the TRUST is currently embarking on a robust sensitization across MDAs to explain to their clients as to why they should repose confidence and trust on NASSIT.
According to the PRO, the TRUST was established by an Act of Parliament in order to solve societal problems.
Explaining further about the scheme the benefits Officer, Mr. Kormoh lamented on the challenges the TRUST is having with its clients which include amongst others the inconsistencies on clients’ documentation, especially on the date of birth of some clients and the failure for them to update their information when required, adding that this particular engagement was to ensure that the TRUST.
carried out its mandate and to receive first hand information from its clients.
The object of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust is to provide retirement and other benefits to meet the contingency needs of workers and their dependants, said Mr. Bah.
The meeting further established the platform for the team to do a series of presentations on their activities and procedures, followed by questions and answers session
